Description

Product Overview — GEPRC GEP-M10 Nano GPS Module

The GEPRC GEP-M10 Nano is a small GNSS positioning module intended for micro FPV drones and custom aircraft where every millimetre and gram counts. It uses the u-blox M10050 receiver found across GEPRC's M10 family but places it in a 15 × 15 mm body with a compact 12 × 12 mm ceramic patch antenna.

By providing location information over UART without a built-in compass or barometer, this version keeps the electrical setup straightforward. Builders can add positioning data to a suitable flight controller while avoiding the extra wiring and configuration required by multi-sensor DQ variants.

Its lightweight form factor is especially interesting for compact frames, but it still needs a clear view of the sky for dependable positioning. Because of its smaller antenna, careful placement and separation from other RF equipment matter as much as selecting the right GNSS hardware.

Key Features — GEP-M10 Nano

  • Made for restricted mounting space: The 15 × 15 × 7.5 mm module body gives builders a compact GPS solution that is easier to fit in smaller frames where a standard 22 mm unit may be difficult to mount.
  • Ultra-light 4.1 g design: GEPRC lists a nominal 4.1 g weight for the Nano. Actual installed weight will depend on the included cable, mounting method and protection chosen for the finished build.
  • u-blox M10 architecture: The M10050 receiver supports combined GPS, BeiDou, Galileo, QZSS and SBAS positioning, with GEPRC specifying up to 32 tracked satellites under suitable reception conditions.
  • Simple serial integration: The GNSS receiver uses UART and the u-blox protocol with a 115200 bps interface and 10 Hz output. Correct UART selection and firmware setup are still required on the aircraft.
  • Flash memory and backup capacitor: The module can retain settings and relevant satellite assistance data between flights, supporting quicker subsequent acquisitions when conditions are suitable.
  • GPS-only configuration: This specific GEP-M10 Nano does not feature an integrated compass or barometer. It should not be confused with the larger M10-DQ or sensor-equipped M1025 variants.

The real performance of any GPS module also depends on your antenna installation, interference conditions and flight-controller configuration.

GNSS Reception and Navigation

The same modern M10 GNSS receiver used elsewhere in the GEPRC family lets the Nano access several satellite constellations. This can increase the pool of available signals but does not guarantee an immediate lock indoors or under a roof.

The 12 × 12 mm ceramic antenna saves space. Compared with the 18 mm M10 and 25 mm M1025 patch variants, the reduced antenna area is a mounting advantage rather than a guarantee of equal reception in difficult environments.

Flash memory and a supercapacitor help the receiver preserve relevant state between flights. A fresh initial satellite fix still takes longer when the unit has been unused for an extended period or moved far from its previous location.

Manufacturer specifications are reference values. Installed performance and compatible features depend on the host aircraft and its flight-controller firmware.

Electrical Interfaces and Flight Controller Integration

Plan the position of the module before fastening your canopy or top plate. The antenna should face upward and remain clear of carbon fibre plates and other shielding surfaces wherever possible.

Supply the unit with an FC power output rated within 3.3–5 V and connect GPS TX to FC RX. If required, connect GPS RX to FC TX and select the correct UART in Betaflight, INAV or other supported firmware.

Enable the GPS feature and relevant protocol in the flight-controller configuration. Verify satellite acquisition outdoors before using any GPS-assisted failsafe or rescue feature. On small frames, do not mount the receiver immediately next to a high-power video transmitter or noisy wiring.

Important model distinction

This is the 15 mm, GPS-only Nano. It does not include a magnetometer or barometer. Do not choose it based on features described for the larger DQ variant.

Installation & Setup Guide

  1. Check your flight controller: Confirm the power rating, free UART pads and the supported GNSS firmware/protocol before soldering or plugging in the module.
  2. Choose an unobstructed position: Orient the ceramic antenna towards open sky. Keep it away from carbon-fibre shielding, VTX antenna feeds and noisy motor or battery wiring.
  3. Verify the wiring: Connect ground and a supported supply. Cross GPS TX to the flight controller's RX pad; connect GPS RX to TX when the firmware requires communication in both directions.
  4. Configure firmware: Enable GPS on the right UART, select the protocol and appropriate baud rate, and enable any additional sensors only when the specific model and controller support them.
  5. Test outdoors before flying: Check for a satellite fix, correct position reports and acceptable sensor readings. Inspect GPS rescue or return-to-home settings rather than assuming they activate automatically.
  6. Secure and retest: Mount the module firmly with safe cable strain relief and verify reception again after assembling the frame and powering the VTX.

Recommended Applications

  • Tiny and micro FPV frames: A good candidate where a 15 mm footprint provides a useful packaging advantage and a separate compass or barometer is not part of the build requirements.
  • Lightweight custom projects: A lower-weight alternative for compatible aircraft that only require GNSS data over serial.
  • Modular flight-controller builds: Works with compatible UART-equipped controllers; confirm power, firmware support and the available mounting position.

Which GEPRC GPS Should You Choose?

Choose the Nano if minimal size and weight are the highest priorities and you need GNSS positioning rather than a combined GNSS/compass/barometer module. If heading and pressure sensors are part of the requirement, compare the GEP-M10-DQ; if space permits and greater antenna area is desirable, examine GEP-M1025.

What Comes in the Manufacturer's Package?

  • GPS module: One unit of the selected GEPRC GPS model
  • Terminal cable: The GEPRC manufacturer pack lists one wiring cable
  • Instructions: The GEPRC manufacturer pack lists a module instruction manual
  • Accessories: GEPRC lists a sticker and heat-shrink tube for the standard package; contents can vary by supply batch

The exact retail package is supplied as received from GEPRC. The information above describes the manufacturer's typical accessory set rather than extra modules or sensors.

Before You Fly

These modules provide GNSS measurements; they do not independently fly or steer the aircraft. Satellite-assisted rescue, heading hold, waypoint functions and altitude control require appropriate flight-controller hardware, firmware, tuning and safe test procedures.

Discover GEPRC

GEPRC focuses on the FPV ecosystem, from ready-to-fly quadcopters and cinewhoops to airframes, electronics, motors and navigation accessories. Its product families serve pilots looking for cinematic flying, freestyle performance, long-range exploration or carefully selected parts for custom aircraft.

GEPRC equipment rewards attention to the complete build rather than any single component. A GPS module must match the flight controller's available connections, a battery must suit the voltage and dimensions of an airframe, and a video or radio configuration must align with the pilot's existing control and viewing system.

Explore the brand by starting with your flying style and aircraft size. Check receiver protocols, video transmission, mounting, operating voltage and firmware before choosing related parts. That compatibility-first approach makes it easier to build a dependable and purposeful FPV setup.
